If - despite all the precautions I take - there is a data breach which affects you, I will contact you within 72 hours of becoming aware of it to tell you what steps I will take. The information I will use You may give me your information by completing the contact form on my website (www.jenkramercounselling.co.uk) or by communicating with me by phone, email or otherwise. I will store your name, telephone number and email address, along with any written message or brief written summary of our telephone conversation. This is so I can deal with your enquiry. All of your information will be stored on a secure website, email system and/or on a password-protected computer only used by me. All information I use is for the purpose of appropriately and ethically dealing with your enquiry. I don’t use your data for anything else.
Confidentiality All of your information and the content of our sessions and any session notes are confidential. I will never share this information unless I am concerned about a risk of harm to you or someone else. I will obtain your consent before doing this in most circumstances. Under British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) ethical guidelines and UK law, I am legally required to disclose your information if I have concerns about drug trafficking, money laundering, terrorism or risk to a child or vulnerable adult.
How long I will hold your information Your information will be securely stored and destroyed 12 months after counselling sessions have been concluded, or three months after you have informed me you do not wish to proceed with any counselling sessions. You can ask me to destroy your information earlier if you wish.
Where I will store your information The information I collect may be transferred to, and stored at, a destination outside the European Economic Area (“EEA”), including in "the cloud". By giving me your information, you agree to this processing. I will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your information is treated securely and in accordance with this privacy notice.
